π BinsΒ
are down by the main gate and split between:
general rubbish (green bin)
paper and card (blue bin - labelled)
bottles and glass (blue bin - labelled)
plastic and tins Β (blue bin - labelled)
Bin collection is early Thursday morning (blue bins weekly, green bin every three weeks). Just drop your rubbish/ recycling down there when you pop out.
π» WifiΒ
is super quick with fibre to the house - c 300Mbps down/ 50Mbps up
π₯΅ HeatingΒ
is mainly from wood - glorious, Llwyn Glas wood. It's felled, cut up, split up... all on site and then burnt in a biomass boiler in the green barn. You won't need to worry about doing anything. If you're staying in the Annexe, there are electric heaters in those rooms that don't have radiators.
The Annexe:
has an infrared heater in the kitchen - this is pretty powerful. Just turn on at the plug and it's programmed to come on.
has an electric wall-mounted convection heater in the snug below the window. To turn on, there is an on/ off switch located underneath, about 10cm from the right-hand corner and it's on a timer.
has a freestanding electric heater in the bedroom - pretty basic, just remember to turn off
The Main house
radiators in all rooms
log burner in lounge (winter use only)
the log burner in the kitchen is out of use
π§WaterΒ
is all from our private spring (via filtration!). The upside of this is that it tastes lovely and is free - the downside is that the pressure is pretty rubbish and it's important to not waste it. Just so you know, Mark from the council comes round every year and tests it - it's good water.Β
Since the UV filtration relies on electricity, if the power is out, you MUST NOT drink water direct from the tap - it needs to be boiled first. Once the power is back on, run the tap for 1 minute and then it will be fine to drink.
In the unlikely event that there is a problem with the water (supply failure, quality issues), stop using all water and contact me immediately - 07712742846. I take water supply very seriously and there is a documented emergency procedure for guests.
